Melbourne Square review: “One thing that never disappoints are my 180-degree views of Melbourne,” Stephen, owner
- 01/09/2021
Keen to find himself a new home that delivered on everything he wanted for a great lifestyle, new resident Stephen took a less than traditional route when making the move to Melbourne Square.
To learn more about his story, we caught up with Stephen for a chat about how he has settled into his new apartment.
Tell us a bit about your purchaser journey at Melbourne Square…
S: I took an unorthodox approach when choosing my new home at Melbourne Square. As fate would have it, I was actually in line for an off-the-plan apartment at a different development, however due to project being delayed by a number of years I ended up looking at other options.
Instead of buying off-the-plan like most of the other residents at the project, I found myself in the right place at the right time as a new apartment in the East Tower came onto the market. We had a look at a number of units in the Melbourne Square complex but were impressed by the premium floors and the facilities available to them. My first impressions of the new space were great, and I ended up purchasing the apartment brand new from the original off-the-plan purchaser.
Above all else, I was looking for a new home with premium facilities that were all in one place. And that is exactly what Melbourne Square offers. In hindsight, I could not be happier with how things have ended up.
What amenity are you excited about at Melbourne Square?
S: I love the premium spa and pool area on level 54 which overlooks the city and out towards Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. I have also managed to get to the gym a few times which has a great selection of equipment. My wife is looking forward to when they are reopened following the current lockdown as we use the spa most days.
When everything starts returning to normal, I am hoping to book one of the resident lounges and have a few guests over for dinner to blow off some steam.
While I am no Tiger Woods, I am also intrigued to see what the golf simulator is like. I have played out on the course before, but having a hit inside will be another new experience for me.
What are your favourite things to do within walking distance from your new home?
S: To be honest, I have liked exploring the area with no fixed destination – it has been great just looking around everywhere. I try to walk around ‘The Tan’ most days which is just around the corner. Having the South Melbourne Market nearby and exploring it always makes for a nice outing as well.
Being so close to the CBD was another massive drawcard for me when purchasing at Melbourne Square, and I am looking forward to refamiliarising myself with everything it has to offer when it starts opening up again.
Moving in before Melbourne’s recent lockdowns must be frustrating – how have you kept yourself entertained during your downtime?
S: One thing that never disappoints are my 180-degree views of Melbourne. There is never a dull moment when you are looking out at the city skyline and to the horizon. Everywhere you look there is different scenery and is different every day. I find it fascinating to watch the weather move across Melbourne.
I have some amazing photos of the surrounding area taken at different times of the day. Some of the photos I have posted on social media and have had great feedback especially when Melbourne is covered in fog which ends up completely blanketing the city, making only the tops of tall buildings visible – it is a really unique thing to see happen!
On still mornings I have seen dozens of hot air balloons drifting effortlessly through the sky.
Would you recommend living at a lifestyle precinct like Melbourne Square to friends?
S: While the timing has been less than ideal, I would definitely recommend living at Melbourne Square to other people. Even though I am yet to experience the precinct in its full capacity, I know there is so much potential ready to be realised just an elevator ride away.
I have managed to meet a few groups of people who are all really nice, and we have set up a group message so we can check in on each other from time to time.
