Woolworths Melbourne Square opens as our new retailers get set to launch

In December last year, we were thrilled to be joined by Melbourne Lord Mayor Councillor Sally Capp and Councillor Kevin Louey, Woolworths team members, as well as our residents and close friends of our precinct to celebrate the opening of Southbank’s first full-line supermarket and the upcoming launch of our growing precinct’s vibrant retail spaces!
Since officially opening its doors, our new 4,300 square metre double-storey Woolies has steadily positioned itself as an important everyday asset for our residents and the broader community.
Woolworths Melbourne Square’s full-line format is unlike other supermarkets in the area and boasts a truly integrated shopping experience comprising a broad selection of produce, brands and conveniences.
Customers can enjoy handy grab and go options perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as delicious cakes and pastries from its on-site bakery, which also stocks several artisan bread and Woolworths’ new range of premium stone-baked loaves.
People looking for some hearty mealtime inspiration can visit the in-store delicatessen and chat with knowledgeable butchers and specialists who can help recommend cuts of meats and how to prepare and cook a wonderful meal.
A new sushi offer and fishmonger service is available at the supermarket, including Woolies’ ‘Bag and Bake’ pre-marinade options which saves busy shoppers time on preparation by infusing seafood with specialty tomato, basil and lime and chilli fusion marinades at the time of purchase.
Woolworths Melbourne Square is only the second supermarket in Victoria to feature contactless ‘Scan & Go’ technology, allowing customers to scan goods with their smartphone as they shop and pay through the app before finalising their items at a dedicated kiosk.
Joining Woolies on the podium level of our growing lifestyle precinct from early-March onwards is our vibrant new food and retail offering. This energetic mix of dine-in and takeaway options, alongside Melbourne Square’s own property agency, will cover everything from fish and chips and pizza to Vietnamese and alcoholic beverages.

Morish pizza and other wholesome Sicilian classics can be found at Pizza Pantelleria, which boasts an impressive list of local and international vinos suited to all price ranges and varietal preferences for people looking to wash down their favourite dishes.
Theo's Fish Bar and its gluten friendly options will make the Friday night takeaway treat an option every night! Tasty grilled and fried seafood options and other fried heroes like dim sims and potato cakes mean Theo’s is a perfect candidate for fun family dinners in our park.
An exciting new venture called Golden Bunny by Tho Tho from Southeast Asian foodie institution Tho Tho Vietnamese Restaurant and Bar will continue the chain’s exceptional run creating energetic food destinations since opening its doors in Richmond’s cultural hub of Victoria Street in 1989.
Adding to the oriental flavours around the precinct is Waku Waku – an authentic Japanese eatery known for its flavour-packed soups and curry menu options suitable for all tastebuds.
